Acer Swift 7 – What is the thinnest laptop in the world? Acer Swift 7? Not anymore. An all new laptop has come and beat the Swift 7 and it is no other than the new laptop Acer Swift 7 V2. That’s right. Acer has beat their own record of making the thinnest laptop in the world. It is only 8.89mm thick where the swift 7 was 10.16mm thick. Now that’s impressive. Acer has made a laptop as thin as smartphones. Hats off to them. It is very thin making it also very lightweight. It is around 1.2kg slighter heavier than the old version however they did add a touchscreen so overall; impressive.
We get it. It’s thin and light but let’s talk about the design. It’s sleek and stylish. The aluminium body is very smooth to touch and give the device a rigid feel. This is something most thin laptops don’t have making them feel cheap and fragile. The Acer Swift 7 V2 feels like it’s worth your money; it doesn’t feel fragile or cheap. The screen folds back 180 degrees from the shut position if that ever comes handy to anyone. Heads up people. Lack of ports. No USB or Ethernet or HDMI ports available on the Swift 7 V2. Instead of these outdated ports you the laptop comes equipped with a pair of USB-C ports, a headphone jack and on the other side is a power button and a Nano-sim slot.
At the price of roughly £1000, we would expect more from Acer. The Swift 7 V2 comes with a 7th generation Intel i7 processor whereas the all-new 8th generation chip has been announced and is now available. It is great. Acer upgraded from an i5 to an i7. And there won’t be different variations of the laptop so you’d have to be happy with 256GB of storage and 16GB of LPDDR3 RAM. However, there are other upgrades such as the screen which is bigger and now touchscreen. The webcam has been moved below the screen and Acer has added a fingerprint sensor. It has 4g connectivity which is extremely handy and it also has Wi-Fi connectivity with a 2×2 MIMO antenna at the bottom of the lid. It also has a decent 10 hour battery life which is great considering how much room there is in a laptop this thin.
